The Self-Destruct Button
Stop blowing up your hard work.
Have you noticed how we can work so hard to build something up, and then throw it away on a whim?
I’ve noticed this clearly with people under the control of drugs and/or alcohol. Over and over again a person will try to break away from the self-destructive cycle of addiction in recovery.
Some deep limiting belief or issue raises it’s head and stares them down. And boom! They hit the button. The job, the place to live, the relationships mended… all damaged or destroyed again.
They hate it, but somehow can’t stop themselves from pushing away peace and joy to embrace the chaos they know oh so well.
It’s easy to see it in others, but what about you and me?
I do it in trying to follow my sales plan. I do it trying to lose weight and live a more balanced life. I can’t point a judgmental finger, but I can come alongside and help others get through those tempting moments when that button almost demands they push it.
One of the biggest things we can do is help each other replace the limiting beliefs and lies about ourselves with liberating truths. Then repeat the truths like a broken record.
It takes time to unlearn the chaos and heal the wounds. And relearn what healthy and successful feels like and make that our point of reference.
Then we can snip the wires of the Self-Destruct button and feel peace and joy again.
Life is a team sport. Help your team focus on liberating truths.
